Benjamin Cook, C.E.G., L.G.
Associate / Engineering Geologist

Benjamin Cook has eighteen years of experience in the geotechnical engineering consulting industry. Ben obtained his B.S. in Geology from the University of Oregon in 2002 with an emphasis in structural geology and tectonics. Ben has expertise in geotechnical site characterization, slope stability and landslide hazard assessment, subsurface investigation, soil infiltration testing, soils laboratory testing, earthwork construction monitoring, foundation subgrade assessments, and structural and commercial grade concrete inspection. Ben is a registered Engineering Geologist in the States of Oregon, and Washington. In addition, Ben possesses a 40 Hour HAZWOPPER certification, ICC and ODOT certifications for special inspection of reinforced concrete and is a certified WABO/OBOA special inspector.

Ben became interested in geology after being shook to the ground during the 1989 Loma Prieta earthquake in the California bay area. The ground shaking emptied his family’s swimming pool of water. The sloshing of the pool lasted for several days leading to a desire to understand the geologic processes at work. In his free time, Ben loves spending time outdoors hiking, skiing, scuba diving, gardening, and travelling. He resides in south east Portland with his wife Tiffany and son Kellen.
